Immigrant Welcome Centre

The Immigrant Welcome Centre in Campbell River and Courtenay does an amazing job at welcoming immigrants and helping them settle on Vancouver Island. They’re a big part of the community as they also promote protocols to fight discrimination, racism, hate activity and hate crime. It was a pleasure to help them improve their online presence with a modern and user-friendly website.

This project was a full redesign from a former Joomla website. We developed lots of custom modules so that their staff could easily manage the different parts of their website: Job posts, Team, Board, Events Calendar, Press Coverage, Blog… Google Translate was used to offer a multilingual website and a live chat component was added to the website to improve communication with immigrants. This project was developed using WordPress, Elementor PRO and Crocoblock for the dynamic components.

As a growing not-for-profit organization when it was time to update our website, we connected with Xavier at the Web Smith, his reputation as a professional and all-around good guy was well known to us. He was able to capture the look and feel we wanted as well as incorporate all the information, navigation and communication tools needed to connect with our clients and community. The process was efficient but never rushed. It was a pleasure to work with Xavier and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
